If you jump immediately into multiplayer and try to change your character, you will notice that only Iron Man is available for you to select. Even after you complete the tutorial mission, the HARM challenge, and return to the War Table, the characters are still blacked out and unavailable for you to select. However, it doesn’t take long before you can unlock all characters, including Thor.

- Begin the single player campaign
- Progress with the campaign until you reach the Testing…1…2..3 mission mission
- After you complete the mission, Thor becomes available
- Go into multiplayer and complete Iron Man’s HARM challenge
- Return to the War Table
- You can now select any of the 6 heroes
How To Unlock Thor In Marvel’s Avengers
The game tells you that the content is locked behind campaign, but it doesn’t give you much more information than that. You need to follow the main story until the mission, Testing…1…2..3 mission. It’s quite far into the game, after unlocking Hulk, Black Widow, Iron Man, and Ms. Marvel.
Once you reach this mission you can enter multiplayer mode and use the War Table to change characters to any of the other heroes.
