5 Best Games of March 2020

March is a time for St. Patrick’s Day, Girl Scout cookies, and (of course) video games. See what this behemoth of a month has in store with the 5 best games of March 2020. Oh, and we won’t make you click through five pages to look at the entire list.

5 Best Games of March 2020

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Originally announced in 2017, Moon Studios and Xbox Game Studios’ Ori and the Will of the Wisps will make its debut this month. Players will take on the role of the white guardian spirit Ori, navigating a number of platforms and solving puzzles along the way. Autosaving has been added to the title, along with a shard system that takes cues from Hollow Knight. We’re especially looking forward to diving into this MetroidVania and getting lost in its world.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps will come out on March 11, 2020 for the Xbox One, Steam, and Windows 10 PCs.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX

Spike Chunsoft is working with The Pokémon Company and Nintendo in the upcoming release of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX. A complete overhaul of the 2005 Game Boy Advance original, this title will feature a new painterly-esque art style, mega evolutions, an autosave functionality, and even an auto mode. We’re looking forward to diving into its randomized dungeons and increasing our rank.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX will come out for the Nintendo Switch on March 6, 2020.

Nioh 2

Team Ninja Studio and Koei Tecmo are once again returning to the Nioh series with the release of the action RPG Nioh 2 in March. Players take control of a customizable yōkai spirit and will take on hostile yōkai using weapons like the odachi and kusarigama. We’re especially looking forward to diving into its three player co-operative multiplayer mode.

Nioh 2 will come out for the PlayStation 4 on March 13, 2020.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

For those looking for a getaway from it all, March is your month. Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons whisks players away to a deserted island where players can craft, customize their appearance, and purchase premium items. Online co-op play has been included, with support for up to eight players online. We’re especially looking forward to meeting its cast, which includes Blathers, Celeste, Gulliver, Kicks, The Able Sisters, Sahara, Harvey, Wisp, and (of course) K.K. Slider.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will come out for the Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020.

DOOM Eternal

For those looking for something a bit more brutal, gamers will be able to rip and tear to their heart’s desire with the release of id Software and Bethesda Softworks’ DOOM Eternal. Filling in the shoes of the Doom Slayer once more, players must aggressively handle demons with weaponry like rocket launchers, plasma rifles and the signature BFG 9000. The title will also include a number of asymmetrical multiplayer modes, and will include five playable demons at launch. We’re especially looking forward to diving into its brutality and pulling off its “glory kill” executions.

Casey Scheld

Casey Scheld has more than 15 years of experience in the gaming industry as a community manager, social media director, event specialist, and (of course) gaming editor. He has previously worked with gaming start-ups like Raptr, publishers like Konami, and roller derby girls at PAX West (check out Jam City Rollergirls)! Gamers Heroes is a passion project for him, giving him a chance to tap into the underground side of gaming. He is all too eager to give these lesser-known heroes of the indie space the attention they so rightly deserve, seeking out the next gem and sharing it with the world. Previously making appearances at events like CES, GDC, and (the late) E3, he is all too happy to seek out the next big thing.
