July was an action-packed month in the world of video games, and this month looks to continue the trend. On that note, here are our 5 best games of August 2021. Oh, and we won’t make you click through five pages to look at the entire list.

5 Best Games of August 2021

Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 1

Everything old is new again with the release of NIS America’s Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 1. Featuring more than 60 hours of gameplay between two games, players will be able to dive into the strategy RPGs Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle Remastered and Soul Nomad & The World Eaters in this collection.

Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 1 will come out for the Nintendo Switch on August 31, 2021.

Psychonauts 2

Danger, excitement and laughs are in store with the release of Double Fine and Xbox Game Studios’ Psychonauts 2 this month. As a newly graduated Psychonaut, players will take control of Raz as he uses Psi-Powers to explore the mental worlds of different players. This third-person platformer will allow Raz to finally figure out what the term “girlfriend” means.

Psychonauts 2 will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on August 25, 2021.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite

Developed by Cold Iron Studio in collaboration with Disney’s 20th Century Games, Aliens: Fireteam Elite takes the classic sci-fi franchise and throws players right into the action. This multiplayer third-person shooter has players taking control of Colonial Marine on board the USS Endeavor as a Gunner, Demolisher, Technician, Doc, or Recon. Along the way, players will have to contend with twenty types of enemies. In order to turn the tide of battle, weapon customization and character progression are both available.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite will come out for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on August 24, 2021.

No More Heroes III

The Crownless King Travis Touchdown will make his return with the release of Grasshopper Manufacture and Marvelous Inc.’s No More Heroes III. With his Beam Katana in hand, Travis will return to Santa Destroy to defend the world from an alien invasion led by FU. As players climb the Galactic Superhero Rankings, they will be able to pull off moves with the Death Glove (like the teleporting dropkick), roll jackpots on the Slash Wheel, and activate a projectile-firing All-Armor Mode.

No More Heroes III will come out for the Nintendo Switch on August 27, 2021.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut

All would-be samurai will once again be able to step into the shoes of Jin Sakai with the release of Sucker Punch and PlayStation Studios’ Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut. This release will include the original game and every piece of additional content sold to date, along with a brand-new adventure on Iki Island. For those playing on the PlayStation 5, the game will feature lip sync for its Japanese voice over, haptic feedback, support for 3D audio, improved load times, and more.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut will come out for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on August 20, 2021.

Casey Scheld

Casey Scheld has more than 15 years of experience in the gaming industry as a community manager, social media director, event specialist, and (of course) gaming editor. He has previously worked with gaming start-ups like Raptr, publishers like Konami, and roller derby girls at PAX West (check out Jam City Rollergirls)! Gamers Heroes is a passion project for him, giving him a chance to tap into the underground side of gaming. He is all too eager to give these lesser-known heroes of the indie space the attention they so rightly deserve, seeking out the next gem and sharing it with the world. Previously making appearances at events like CES, GDC, and (the late) E3, he is all too happy to seek out the next big thing. For those that want to talk shop, send over a tip, or get an easy win in a fighting game of their choosing, be sure to check out his social media channels below.
