5 Best Games of April 2022

The past is back once more with April’s docket of releases. On that note, here are the 5 best games of April 2022. Oh, and we won’t make you click through five pages to look at the entire list.

5 Best Games of April 2022

Nintendo Switch Sports

Soccer, Volleyball, Bowling, Tennis, Badminton, and Chambara (Swordplay) all await players in Nintendo Switch Sports this month. Much like Wii Sports, one can use Joy-Con controllers to curve bowling ball shorts, add spin to tennis shots, and kick balls in soccer with the use of the Leg Strap.

Of course, there’s some glory on the line too – players can jump online and take on opponents to earn in-game rewards and aim for the Pro League.

Nintendo Switch Sports will come out for the Nintendo Switch on April 29, 2022.

MLB The Show 22

The seventeenth entry of the MLB: The Show franchise, San Diego Studio and PlayStation Studios’ MLB The Show 22 is set to come out in April. MLB on ESPN Radio announcers Jon Sciambi and Chris Singleton will serve as its new play-by-play commentators, while Alex Miniak will make his return as public address announcer.

One is also able to dive into 2v2 or 3v3 with your favorite MLB or MiLB teams in Play Now mode online. Alternatively, one can also build up their collection in the Diamond Dynasty.

MLB The Show 22 will come out for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 5, 2022.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Traveller’s Tales and WB Games are teaming up for another LEGO adventure with the release of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Right from the offset, players will be able to dive into any of the three Skywalker saga trilogies and complete them in any order. Combat has been overhauled with light attacks, heavy attacks, and Force moves, and the cast has been increased to over 300 playable characters.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will come out for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 5, 2022.

THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake

Forever Entertainment and MegaPixel Studio are bringing the classic SEGA arcade title to the Nintendo Switch with the release of THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake.

This title was designed to remain faithful to the original; while modern voice acting and audio quality have been added, the team is striving to retain the original game’s cheesy dialogue. The team has also hinted that there will be “a whole new entourage,” though the details of that are still being kept under wraps.

THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake will come out for the Nintendo Switch on April 7, 2022.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition

Originally released for the PlayStation 1, Square Enix’s Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition will be released for a new generation this month.

This JRPG features more than 40 different party members that follows the story of “Serge” as he crosses time on his quest to save himself from dying in a parallel universe.

Tweaks made to this version include 3D models converted to HD, refined character illustrations, higher quality background music, the ability to switch enemy encounters on or off, and an auto-battle feature.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 7, 2022.

Casey Scheld

Casey Scheld has more than 15 years of experience in the gaming industry as a community manager, social media director, event specialist, and (of course) gaming editor. He has previously worked with gaming start-ups like Raptr, publishers like Konami, and roller derby girls at PAX West (check out Jam City Rollergirls)! Gamers Heroes is a passion project for him, giving him a chance to tap into the underground side of gaming. He is all too eager to give these lesser-known heroes of the indie space the attention they so rightly deserve, seeking out the next gem and sharing it with the world. Previously making appearances at events like CES, GDC, and (the late) E3, he is all too happy to seek out the next big thing. For those that want to talk shop, send over a tip, or get an easy win in a fighting game of their choosing, be sure to check out his social media channels below.
