One of the deadliest ranged Vocations in the game. This guide will tell you everything you need to know to unlock the powerful Magick Archer Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

The Magick Archer, much like the Trickster Vocation, is one only available to the Arisen. This means that only your main character is able to use the Vocation. It is not available to be learned on your main Pawn or Pawn’s you hire from other players.

Where To Find The Magick Archer Vocation

A map showing Where To Find The Magick Archer Vocation

It will likely be some time before you’re able to unlock the Magick Archer Vocation. You need to follow the main story until you gain access to the second region, Battahl. This is the area to the West with the only entry being through a huge guarded gate just South of Checkpoint Rest Town.

You get a right of passage document from Brent during the main quest at the capital city. Once you have that, you are able to reach Battahl.

Once you enter Battahl you will need to travel all the way to the very Southern edge of the region. At this location you will find a long and dangerous dungeon, Drabnir’s Grotto. Work your way through the dungeon and when you come out the other side, you will reach Agamen Volcanic Island.

As soon as you reach this new area you will encounter an injured dwarf on the road. He will ask you for three herbs to make a potion to aid his injured back, this starts the side quest Put A Spring In Thy Step

It’s a straight-forward, objective based side quest, so once you escort the old dwarf to the hot springs, you will speak with his wife and unlock the Magick Archer Vocation.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is filled with exciting and rewarding side quests, many of which are hidden and not on the map. Check out our Side Quest Guide below for the location of every side quest we discovered on our journey, and a quick walkthrough for how to complete the objectives.

Some of the side quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are time sensitive. This means that the events of the quest will play out, regardless of player involvement. Most of the time, this leads to two different outcomes, a positive and a negative outcome. For example, being tasked with finding someone out in the wilds who is under attack.

If you take too long to arrive, they may die. These quests are marked below by a (!) icon next to the name. We’ve been cautious and labelled ones that may be safe to wait, just to be extra safe. We recommend saving before every quest, just in case something goes wrong and rest at the Inn, so you have two files to restore to. Regardless, it’s a good idea to simply complete each quest as you unlock it and don’t get too sidetracked.

Lastly, Dragon’s Dogma 2 doesn’t differentiate between main story quests and side quests very well. So, there may be a few discrepancies.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 players are missing a vital mechanic hidden away in the games Enhancing system. A little know aspect of players Enhancing weapons and armor can have a permanent negative effect on characters stats, so make sure to read on to avoid the mistake.

Very early in Dragon’s Dogma 2 players can Enhance the weapons and armor of both the main character and their Pawn. At first glance, it’s a simple system, one familiar to RPG players all over but watch a little closer and you’ll find it’s more detailed and useful than first thought. Not only does it allow you to better fine-tine specific characters and builds, but it can also have a negative effect if you don’t do it correctly.

Don’t Make This HUGE Mistake When Enhancing Equipment

Don't Make This HUGE Mistake When Enhancing Equipment

Every Blacksmith in Dragon’s Dogma 2 offers an Enhancing service. You pay gold and sometimes materials and in exchange the Blacksmith increases the stats on your weapon. However, every Blacksmith has their own set of tools, their own smithing method, and this is reflected in how the gear is upgraded.

Each Blacksmith has a Blacksmith style. Whenever you visit a Blacksmith and select the Enhancement option, pay close attention to their style at the top of the screen. The Blacksmith I’ve shown above is of the Battahli style.

This means that when you Enhance weapons or armor with this particular Blacksmith and the Battahli style, you will get a much greater boost to Strength and Defense but minimal gains on Magick and Magick Defense.

As such it’s especially important when you are Enhancing rare or valuable weapons, ones you intend to use for a long time. It would be a waste to upgrade a Mage weapon with Strength and Defense. So pay close attention to the Blacksmith you visit.

Enhancing items greatly increases their efficacy but the limit is usually level 3. In this guide we’ll show you how you can upgrade your equipment past level 3, reaching a new level 4 threshold, that offers some of the biggest bonuses in the game.

Every Blacksmith in Dragon’s Dogma belongs to a specific style of the trade. When you are visiting a Blacksmith, under the Enhance menu, look at the information at the top of the screen. This will tell you the Blacksmith’s style and the pros and cons of that particular style.

For example, Enhancing your equipment with a Battahli Blacksmith has a greater effect on Strength and Defense but a weaker impact on Magick and Magick Defense

Where To Find Wyrmfire Dragonforge

A map showing players Where To Find Wyrmfire Dragonforge so they can Enhance items to level 4

You want to seek out the Bay Wayside Shrine, which can be found North East of the capital city, Bakbattahl. Following the North Eastern path out of the city, along the coast, you will eventually reach the Bay Wayside Shrine cave. Speak with The Dragonforged inside and he will explain the potency of Dragon Blood.

You can use Wyrmslife Crystals (WLC) to trade for items, such as Portcrystal’s and Ferrystones, but it can also be used to Enhance equipment.

Using this Blacksmith at the Bay Wayside Shrine allows you to bring Enhanced items already at level 3 and take them up to level 4. This halves the weight and greatly increases the efficacy of the item, so it’s a very rewarding system.

Customizing your Pawn with powerful Specializations comes with many benefits. This Dragon’s Dogma 2 Specializations Guide covers everything you need to know, including where to find hidden specializations, how to equip them to Pawns, and what each specialization does.

What Are Specializations

An image showing the specializations screen

Specializations are unique abilities that you can assign to your Pawn, the ally you create at the beginning of the game that follows you on your adventure. The Specialization feature takes up one of the two slots in the Traits section.

The first trait, Inclination, is the Pawns personality. The other section, Specialization, is where it impacts the behavior of the Pawn. For example, the Forager Specialization will give your Pawn the ability to mark enhancement materials on your map.

How To Equip Specializations

An image showing How To Equip Specializations

Once you obtain a Specialization, small scroll-like items, you can find them under the Implements section of the inventory. You then simply select the Tome you want to use and then select your Pawn.

It’s worth noting that in order to teach your Pawn a Specialization, the Pawn must be within range of your main character.

List Of All Specializations

Forager

This Specialization allows your Pawn to highlight enhancement materials on the map

Chirurgeon

Chirurgeon unlocks a Pawns ability to use curatives and healing items on both other Pawns and the main character on their own initiative.

Logistician

This Specialization gives your Pawn the ability to move items between allies packs, as they see fit, and combine materials to make items.

Woodland Wordsmith

This Specialization allows Pawns to understand and translate the Elvish language. If you have a Pawn in your party with Woodland Wordsmith, all Elf speech and text will be visible as if it were in English.

Aphonite

This Specialization makes a Pawn almost entirely mute. They will nearly never say any dialogue or chatter at all.

Where To Find Specializations

Most Specializations can be found more than once, and the vast majority are rewards for side content. Be sure to check out our Dragon’s Dogma 2 Side Quest guide for a detailed walkthrough on all side quests.

Chirurgeon

  • Complete the Side Quest Medicament Predicament in Melve

Forager

  • Complete the side quest The Heel Of History in Vernworth

Logistician

  • Complete the side quest The Heel Of History in Vernworth

Woodland Wordsmith

  • Give the NPC at the Inn in Sacred Arbor Flowers two days in a row and she will give you the scroll.

We are still working on discovering the location of other Specializations. If you have any tips to share, please post a comment below.

During this quest you need to give Sebastian specific items. This House Of The Blue Sunbright Guide For Dragon’s Dogma 2 lists all of the items you need to find to ensure Sebastian returns from his adventure with the flower from his mother.

Inside the house you can speak with Daphne and Diana for clues

Daphne tells you that she has heard that it’s a good idea to bring something that reeks of cyclops, because it will drive the other monsters away.

If you speak with the housekeeper, Diana, she gives you two additional clues. She warns that the area is rife with poisonous plants that also have an added effect of making people drowsy.

What Items To Give To Sebastian

What Items To Give To Sebastian

Using the clues above, it’s relatively simple. Firstly, procure yourself a Misshapen Eye. These are almost guaranteed to drop whenever you kill a Cyclops. They are quite often found when using the Oxcarts to travel between destinations as they frequently attack the roads at night. Once you have acquired a Cyclops Eye, you need two potions.

The first potion, Detoxifying Decoction, requires mixing a Pitywort and & Syrupwort Leaf. Although these are also commonly available at all Apothecary shops for 500 Gold.

The second potion. Waking Powder, is one we’ve yet to discover a recipe for, but you can also buy it in the Apothecary for 400 Gold.

Once you have all the items, return to the Townsend’s Estate and give them to Sebastian.

Attending the event in proper clothing unlocks an achievement. This guide on Where To Find Formal Raiment & Masquerade Mask In Dragon’s Dogma 2 gives you a quick and easy guide to follow to find all three items required to attend the ball.

Where To Find Masquerade Mask

Where To Find Masquerade Mask

There are two options when it comes finding the Eventide Mask. Firstly, you can buy it from travelling vendors. These are peddlers that you can often find in towns and roaming around the wilderness. Unfortunately, this does make them a little difficult to track down, so there is another option.

Simply follow the main story missions in the capital until you get the side quest A Magisterial Amenity. At the beginning of this quest you will be given an Eventide Mask as a means to gain access to the event. This completes the first part of the costume.

Where To Find Formal Raiment

Where To Find Formal Raiment

The Formal Raiment is the complete outfit, in which you need the Courtly Tunic and the Courtly Breeches, a shirt and pants, basically. There are multiple locations to find these items but the easiest is the Watchheads Home in the Noble Quarter in the city.

If, for some reason, you have already looted and sold those versions, other houses in the Noble Quarter also have the Courtly Breeches and Courtly Tunic. Finally, you could also complete the side quest The Ornate Box and, eventually, Sven will give you both items.

That’s all you need to attend the Masquerade and get the achievement. Any questions, please comment below.

During The Caged Magistrate quest, Waldhar asks you for information on Where To Find A Place With Plenty Of Tomes In Dragon’s Dogma 2, which is hidden away behind a side quest.

It’s possible to reach this location and speak with Waldhar in one of two ways. You can arrive having already completed the required side quest or you can arrive before completing the side quest. Due to the perilous nature of the gaol, with roaming guards at every turn, it’s a good idea to complete the side quest first.

Where To Find A Place With Plenty Of Tomes

A map showing Where To Find A Place With Plenty Of Tomes

It is possible there are multiple locations that fit the Magistrates requirement, but this is the only one we have found up to this point. It’s called The Gracious Hand’s Vaults. It’s on the outskirts of Vernworth, just to the East, outside the castle walls.

However, unless you have completed a specific side quest, you will not be able to enter the vaults and therefore, will not have somewhere for Waldhar to find refuge. For that, you must complete The Heel Of History.

Unlocking The Place With Plenty Of Tomes

To unlock and gain access to The Gracious Hand’s Vault, you must complete The Heel of History side quest. This quest can be found by speaking with the priest who stands outside the vault all day, asking for donations.

Make a couple of donations to the cause, anything works fine, and he will ask you for help finding a lost child. It’s an easy side quest but if you get stuck, be sure to check out our side quest guide for this quest and to avoid missing hidden quests in the future.

Once the quest is complete you can return to Waldhar and inform him of The Gracious Hand’s Vault

The Mystic Spearhand is a powerful, spear-based Vocation that is both speedy and great with damage. In this Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide we’ll show you how to unlock the Vocation quickly and easily.

How To Unlock Mystic Spearhand Vocation

How To Unlock The Mystic Spearhand Vocation

The Mystic Spearhand Vocation seems to be a unique combat style that’s practiced by only a single soldier, Sigurd. In order to learn the Mystic Spearhand Vocation, and it’s one that only the Arisen can learn as it cannot be taught to Pawns, you need to find Sigurd.

Once you have found Sigurd, speak with him. You have several options during the conversation, choose the option that says “Ask About His Manner Of Fighting”. Sigurd will then explain the combat style to you and you will unlock the Vocation.

Where To Find Sigurd

Depending on what point you have reached in the story, Sigurd could be in one of two locations. If you have yet to experience the dragon attack on Melve, he is likely at his home in Harve Village. If the dragon is currently attacked Melve in the story, you will find Sigurd there.

If you cannot find Sigurd there or he doesn’t teach you his Vocation, follow the main story until you have helped restore Harve Village and returned to Melve to fend off the dragon. Then try speaking with Sigurd again.
