The Holiday Pack is the free aspect of the content update and will introduce a New Game + feature, allowing players who have completed the mains tory to begin a new game with previous gameplay data intact. Beginning on December 22nd players will also have the option to frame Prompto’s greatest works of art with a selection of new photo frames.

Other items available for free with the Holiday Pack update include:

• Warrior’s Fanfare – A scroll of sheet music containing a song of jubilation that provides additional AP for earning an A+ in Offense outside of training.
• Nixperience Band – A device that stops experience points from being tallied, preventing the party from leveling up for an added challenge.
• Carnival Passport – An adorably adorned ticket that whisks the bearer away to a fun-filled carnival for a limited time.
• Choco-Mog Tee (available late January) – An exclusive T-shirt featuring everyone’s favorite fluffy and feathery friends. Colorful, comfy and appropriate for any carnival-goer.

The Holiday Pack + package is available to those that hold a Final Fantasy XV Season Pass or purchased the Final Fantasy XV Digital Premium Edition. Featuring all of the items in the free Holiday Pack the Holiday Pack + also contains:

• Ring of Resistance – A protective piece of jewelry that renders the entire party to be resistant to magical friendly fire.
• Tech Turbocharger – A device for Noctis that accelerates the tech bar replenishment rate, but freezes the Armiger bar.
• Armiger Accelerator – A device for Noctis that accelerates the Armiger bar replenishment rate, but freezes the tech bar.
• Blitzer’s Fanfare – A scroll of sheet music containing a song of jubilation that provides additional AP for earning an A+ in Time outside of training.

The day one patch, now called The Crown Update, will be available to download automatically on all platforms when the game releases on November 29th. Following the announcement that Final Fantasy XV had gone gold the team over at Square Enix felt there was more that needed to be done. Since that time the developers have been working on providing a number of improvements, bug fixes and new features to accompany the official release with The Crown Update.

Check out the full list of changes below:

• Improvements to the camera with new options to better assist and track the action in tight spaces and to improve visibility during battles
• The addition of an ability tree for the Wait Mode function improves the strategic element of this feature
• Players can obtain the “Beast Whistle” which can be used to call monsters to battle
• New event scenes and scenes from KINGSGLAIVE: FINAL FANTASY XV™ and the “Omen” trailer have also been added to the game to make the story and timeline of events within the FINAL FANTASY XV universe even easier to follow for newcomers

Square-Enix continued their onslaught of Final Fantasy XV coverage during Twitchcon this past weekend. Death Spell is the latest spell to be announced for the upcoming sequel.

The video shows Noctis using the Ring of the Lucii to cast a Death Spell on his enemies. If the spell is familiar it is because Death has been a series mainstay as far back as the first Final Fantasy game on NES. Purchasable to use, “Rub” is a level 6 death spell for the Black Mage/Wizard. Although I remember it never working, a spell has continued to find its way into subsequent sequels in the form of “Kill”, “Fatal” and, “Doom.”

During the video shown at Twitchcon you can see Noctis take out multiple targets not included in the above gif. Additionally Noctis seems to become vulnerable once he initiates casting adding a layer of gameplay skill to the execution of the Death spell. What remains unclear but should be heavily assumed is whether the spell works on everything or if some enemies and bosses are excluded. In past Final Fantasy games the Death spell is used by certain enemies and nullified by most bosses immunity to various status ailments including instant death.

Either way, expect Square Enix to continue their fever pitch of info drops in the weeks to come before the launch on PS4 and Xbox One November 30, 2016. You can check out 60 minutes of gameplay here and make sure and checkout the video below.

I just don’t know how to feel about a Season Pass in a Final Fantasy game. I feel like if done right it can help enrich a game but shouldn’t a definitive game be able to stand on its own without it? Set to be released content in the Season Pass include:

• DLC1 – FFXV Booster Pack: Will help you get powerful weapons that will help out in battle.
• DLC2 – FFXV Episode Gladiolus: An original episode that focuses on Noctis’ frend Gladiolus. The episode makes him a playable character, allowing you to control Gladiolus.
• DLC3 – FFXV Episode Holiday Pack: Includes a splendid item pack to make your game more gorgeous.
• DLC4 – FFXV Episode Ignis: An original episode that focuses on Noctis’ friend Ignis. The episode makes him a playable character, allowing you to control Ignis.
• DLC5 – FFXV Episode Prompto: An original episode that focuses on Noctis’ friend Prompto. The episode makes him a playable character, allowing you to control Prompto.
• FFXV Expansion Pack: An expansion pack that makes it possible to enjoy a completely new way to play Final Fantasy XV.

What I really want to know is if they are going to continue the story or not. Obviously much of these plans as to whether or not they continue making content for Final Fantasy XV will depend on how well it sells but really when it comes down to it, the story will have to be good and not end won’t it? Speaking with Famitsu via Siliconera, Game Director Tabata said “should we decide on DLC that isn’t included in the Season Pass that is currently selling, then that’s how it’ll be. Although there are still many parts that are uncertain.”

So if it is sells and is received well, are we going to get more content? While I like the idea of extra content, it worries me about the story. Great Final Fantasy titles ended at “The End” leaving us wanting more and not at the end of a 3rd title or DLC. Past Final Fantasy titles were definitive because they ended leaving me wanting more. When games leave the ultimate conclusion out of launch day release it just makes me sour and if I hear that a game has done it, I won’t purchase the game till after all content has been released just like I did Mass Effect 3.

Making matters more convoluted are the different ways you can purchase this content. While a cost has not been specified for any DLC, the current Final Fantasy XV Digital Premium Edition is currently available for $84.99 on both the PS Store and the Xbox Store and includes the Season Pass. The $89.99 Deluxe Edition available on Amazon.com does not include the Season Pass so beware. It does however include Kingslaive: Final Fantasy as well as a Masamune Weapon among others.

Its important to note that the content for the upcoming Season Pass was announced before the delay to November 29 and as such Tabata has stated “We’re currently rearranging the schedule for everything to go along with the delay of the main game, so I can’t say much more in detail for now.”

For now I will just have to keep myself busy with the 52 minutes of Gameplay released. I want it so bad, can’t even stop myself anymore.

There will be 15 chapters to Final Fantasy XV with the renowned Famitsu getting to play to chapter 3. According to Tabata chapter 3 is about 15% or so through the game. What wasn’t stated was whether or not different areas would be closed off after completing them or whether second half areas will have open-world aspects or not.
